Pastor Pete Hoft

Pastor Peter Hoft grew up in Michigan, Illinois, and southern California. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Concordia University Wisconsin in 1996, and graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 2000 with the Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained into the Pastoral Ministry on July 2, 2000, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, IL, where he served as Associate Pastor until 2006. From 2006-2015 he has served as Associate Pastor at Park View Lutheran Church, Eldridge, IA and then was installed as Senior Pastor in January of 2015. He was united to his wife, Bethany, on December 27, 1997. They have been blessed with two children, Nathan and Gretchen. He enjoys spending time with his family and reading.
 

BARTEL-ROBERT-102

Bob Bartel - Pastor Emeritus

 Pastor Robert Bartel grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received his BA degree in Theology from Concordia Sr. College, Ft. Wayne in 1972, and graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1976 with a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained into the Pastoral Ministry at Gospel Lutheran Church, Milwaukee in 1976. He served as pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Corning, Iowa from 1976-1981 when he accepted a call from the LCMS Board for Mission Services. In 1982 he became the first LCMS missionary to Botswana, Africa, establishing 5 congregations in the Khakhea Parish through November 1992. After writing a T.E.E. book for the BFMS in 1993, Bob became pastor of Park View Lutheran in 1994 where he has served until present. He has been married to Elaine (nee Barr) of Kellogg, Iowa since 1980. God has blessed them with four children: Christine, serving the Governor of Iowa in Washington, D.C.; Terri, a high school English teacher in Milwaukee; Daniel, a 1st grade teacher in the Quad Cities; and Michael, a college graduate, serving in the U.S. Army. Pastor enjoys time with family, traveling, and sports.

 

Office Staff

Joan Serrano - Secretary

Joan Serrano was hired in the fall of 1985 as custodian while attending the adult membership class. She would occasionally work in the office while the secretary was out of the office. On October 1, 2000 she took over the office duties when her mother, Barb Colbert retired. Joan and her husband, Jerry, have three children: Jerry Jr., Chris, and Mindy. They have four grandchildren: Kylee, Analyn, Gabriella, and Sophia. In her free time, Joan enjoys bowling, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren.

 

Preschool Staff

Denise Weiss - Director

Denise Weiss began teaching at Share and Care Christian Preschool in 1986 under the direction of Mrs. Pat Schrage. Next, she worked as Lead Teacher with Director Betty Lockhart for 26 years. In 2012 she became Director of the preschool. Denise and her husband, Rod, are members of Park View Lutheran Church. They have two children: Jeremy, who works for Visa Corp in Davenport; and Emily, an RN at the NICU in Iowa City. Denise and Rod have a granddaughter, Caitlynn (daughter of Emily and Brad). Denise thoroughly loves being with children and coming up with new ideas to share with them. She enjoys making cards, quilting, sewing, other crafts. Denise and Rod also love spending time outside enjoying their flowers beds and roses.

 

Rhonda Upmeyer - Lead Teacher

Rhonda Upmeyer began as Lead Teacher at Share and Care Preschool in 2014. Previous to that position, she was first a preschool mom when her two boys attended here and then our Teacher's Aide since 2008. She has also been a substitute Teacher's Aide for the North Scott Schools and a classroom volunteer for Kindergarten through 6th grade at Alan Shepard Elementary since 2006. Her love for children, warm hugs and smiles make her well known by parents and children in the community. Rhonda and her husband, Carl, are the parents of two sons, Nick and Alex. They are active in their church, St. Ann's Catholic Church in Long Grove, where Rhonda has served as a VBS teacher and Faith Formation Aide. As a family, they enjoy many activities together including attending soccer and basketball games and also traveling to see family in Texas and weekend trips to Chicago.
